Construction begins on Ipswich's 2nd wind turbine

By Jonathan Phelps Staff WriterPiece by piece, the town’s second wind turbine on Town Farm Road is coming together.
And that may be just the beginning; a privately owned solar farm proposed for the street could also help further the town’s renewable energy goals.
Ipswich’s first turbine is a joint project of the town’s utility company and public schools.
The two turbines will account for about 7 percent of the town’s power needs. The new turbine will produce about 2 megawatts, or about 4 percent of the town’s energy.

Sustainability Forum Spotlights Sustainability in the Town of Ipswich with Tim Collins of EBSCO Publishing


What:         Special Sustainability Forum this month will meet at EBSCO Publishing in Ipswich on Wed., Dec. 5, 2012. Our guest host will be Tim Collins, president and founder of EBSCO Publishing.

Focus:        Ipswich is one of the oldest towns in the US. It has long-standing connection to its beautiful resources, notably its river and salt marshes. Located prominently downtown is EBSCO Publishing, a major North Shore business with a noted commitment to sustainability.
President Tim Collins has been the driving force behind the reduction of EBSCO Publishing’s environmental footprint, instituting many new cutting edge policies, such as the conversion of EP’s entire fleet to hybrid vehicles, the installation of over 400 solar panels and electric car charging stations, as well as the distribution of over 150,000 green bags throughout the North Shore.

When:        Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012. Coffee begins at 8 a.m.; presentation at 8:20.
